Each part of a fishing pole is numbered, starting at the narrow end, 1 and 2 (normally the top kit) then sections 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, then on most poles the graphic sections are 8,9,10. Sometimes an angler will describe how far out into a swim they are fishing by indicating how many sections they are fishing with, top four for example.
