A manual counter is used to keep a tally of the weight of fish caught. Normally this is done by estimating the fish’s size before release or placing it into a keep-net. There are rules regarding the amount of fish that can be kept in a keep net during a match, Going over this limit can result in the whole net not being counted for the final weigh in so Match anglers will keep a tally for each keepnet out, this could be 5 or more. Most venues do not allow pleasure anglers to keep fish in keep nets so a clicker is a fun way to keep a tally of the total of fish caught during a pleasure session.
